The hardware recognition comes up as a "PCI serial port" in Device Manager with exclamation because no drivers. I don't have much to do with XP , so I know much about their use of digitally signed drivers , all I know about XP is the crap about the Try a different USB port on your computer. It recognized the modem, installed the driver and gave no diagnostics errors.
