Last night he tried to copy some data from his new XP Pro system to a CD-RW disk which already had data on it from his WinME machine. I use LAME-encoded MP3 (with standard encoding preset) exclusively; Sony's encoding software is a PITA, and Atrac3 sounds like crap anyway. I can't speak for your experience, but the c't tests do not indicate that. The nice round ones you buy can easily be damaged if you pull the cable out of the drive by the ATA cable and not the plastic tab. As my brother has reminded me often however, forget the rewritables and just burn to a writable, they are cheap.
