I have the exact same Laptop, exact same Windows, exact same problem!! go and spend more bucks and get a DVD RW which is listed as 'compatible' in Windows web site.Microsoft simply succumbs to the power of 'big money' coming from Beverly Hills I get a sense of that because it couldn't fixate. I haven't found Upper and LowerFilter out here.So, the cd/dvd RW drive in Windows 7 7600 x64 Ult couldn't be used.Any ideas how to fix it?

I had sent them the error log file and the Info Tool information and their reply was to send the error log file and the Info Tool information. After a few times rebooting, Windows 7 wouldn't start, so I again unplug my DVD drive from my motherboard. But I don't think that compatibility problems between ner 7 and windows 7 result in a media error.
